Downloading a copy of your data

Everything saved in your workspace comes down as one file, from one button on your account page. It is yours to keep, and you do not have to ask anyone for it.

Applies to every module. See all the guides.

How to get it

  1. Open your account page.

Click your name or picture in the top bar and choose Account.

  2. Scroll to the card called Export my data.

It sits below the sign-in cards and above the delete card.

  3. Press "Download my data (JSON)".

The button says "Preparing…" while it reads your workspace, then your browser saves the file the way it saves any other download.

The file is named for the day you took it, like cabdesign-export-2026-08-31.json, so a folder of them stays in order on its own.

What is in the file

Everything the workspace holds, not a summary of it:

At the top of the file there is a short header saying when it was taken, which email and account it belongs to, and the name of the workspace. Everything else sits under it, grouped by what it is.

Why the list matters

It is the same set that deleting your account erases. That is deliberate, and it is the reason to take a copy before you close anything down: what comes out of the export is what would otherwise be gone. If you are thinking about deleting your account, take the export first.

It reads your workspace and nothing else

The download is scoped to the workspace you are signed in to, and to your own account row inside it. It cannot reach another shop's work, and another shop cannot reach yours.

If the download stops with a message

If any part of your workspace cannot be read, the whole export stops and tells you which part it was. Nothing half-finished is handed to you wearing the name of a full backup, because a backup you cannot trust is worse than none. Try it again in a minute; if it keeps stopping, send us the message it showed and we will look at it.

What you can do with the file

It is JSON, which is a plain-text format any text editor will open and most spreadsheet and scripting tools can read. Keep it wherever you keep the rest of the shop's records. It is a copy of your data rather than a project file, so there is no button that reads it back in - if you need something restored from one, write to us and we will help.
