Good news up front: this unit ships fully assembled — you're not building a drawer. A frameless install is really just mark and mount two slides level, clip the carriage on, mark and hang the door, then adjust. The boring template you bought is optional here (see Good to know).

Watch the official install, then follow along

Five minutes from Rev-A-Shelf for your exact unit. The written steps below carry the real measurements, so you can keep your hands free while you work.

Rev-A-Shelf official — 5LB LEGRABOX Waste Container Installation. The install for your exact unit.

The whole job, at a glance

  1. Mark & mount the two slides
  2. Clip on the carriage & cap it
  3. Find your overlay, mark & mount the door
  4. Hang the door & dial in the reveal
  5. Drop in the bins

How the parts stack (cut away from the side). Bottom-up: the Blum slide screws to the side wall 38 mm above the floor → the metal carriage clips onto the slide → the two 50 qt bins drop into the carriage → your door fixes to the front and rides out with it.

Before you start

Tools & what’s in the box

Lay the parts out first so every step has an obvious next piece. Tools and quantities are from the printed sheet (I-5LB-1217).

Tools & materials

  • Drill/driver + #2 Phillips bit
  • T20 Torx driver — for the 3-D adjustment and for removing the box/door later
  • Awl + rubber mallet — Rev-A-Shelf’s method for marking the hole centers
  • Tape measure, pencil, and a short level (or combination square)
  • Painter’s tape — to mark a layout line without marring the cabinet
  • Safety glasses
  • Optional: self-centering (“Vix”) bit, 5/64"–7/64" (≈2–2.8 mm), for clean pilot holes

Fit check

Walk the cabinet with a tape before you commit.

From the product page

  • Minimum opening (W × D × H): 16-1/2" × 22" × 24-1/2" · 419 × 559 × 622 mm.
  • The assembled unit itself: 16-1/2" × 21-23/32" × 24-1/4" · 419 × 552 × 616 mm; holds up to 155 lb (70 kg).
  • Needs a full-height cabinet, no drawer above — the 50 qt bins are tall.

Parts list

The maple accent tray, two 50 qt Orion Gray bins, and one lid. The whole unit lifts out later for cleaning.

Two cabinet slides

The Blum runners that screw to the cabinet side walls. The carriage clips onto these.

Door-mount brackets×2

Screw to the back of your door; the door then clips to the front of the carriage and travels with the bins.

Slide-mount screws#8 × 1/2" (13 mm)

One pack of 8 — for fixing the two slides to the cabinet walls.

Door-mount screws#6 × 1/2" (13 mm)

Two RV packs of 6 — for the door brackets. Each pack has 2 spares; discard the extras.

Logo cover caps×2

Snap over the adjusters on each side. Pop them off when it’s time to fine-tune.

Step-by-step

Eight steps, start to finish

Mark both side walls identically, mount the slides, clip the carriage, then mark and hang the door. Numbers in blue are straight from the sheet.

1

Prep the cabinet

  1. Empty the cabinet and remove the existing door (you’ll convert that swing door to the pull-out front).
  2. Confirm the opening is at least 16-1/2" × 22" × 24-1/2" (419 × 559 × 622 mm), W × D × H. It needs a full-height cabinet with no drawer above.
  3. Watch for anything intruding into the opening — hinges, plumbing, or a center stile — and subtract it from your measurements.
  4. Vacuum the cabinet floor so the unit sits flat.
Minimum opening opening 16½″ · 419 mm (W) 24½″ 622 mm (H) 22″ 559 mm (D)
Fit check. The opening must clear at least this box. Needs a full-height cabinet — no drawer above.
!Yours is a frameless cabinet, so the slides land right on the side walls. On a face-frame cabinet you’d first shim the side walls flush to the frame with a scab board — the opening dimensions stay just as crucial.
2

Mark the slide holes

Mark both side walls identically, then punch the centers with the awl and mallet.

Slide fixing holes — official sheet, Fig. 1

  • Every hole sits 1-1/2" (38 mm) up from the cabinet floor — same height both sides.
  • Measured back from the front edge, the holes fall at 37 mm, 69 mm, 293 mm, and 357 mm (1-15/32", 2-23/32", 11-17/32", 14-1/16").
  • Frameless rule: the slide sits flush with the front edge of the side panel.
The cabinet slide — 5 sets of 3 holes; screw the rear hole of sets 1, 2, 4 & 5 screw here leave empty front sets — rear (3rd) hole back sets — rear hole FRONT set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 (no screw) Those four holes ≈ 37, 69, 293 and 357 mm from the front edge — only if you want to double-check.
Which holes to use. The slide has five sets of three holes. Drive a slide-mount screw into the rear (3rd) hole of sets 1, 2, 4 and 5, and leave set 3 empty — just like Rev-A-Shelf’s Fig. 2. Match it by eye; those four happen to land at 37, 69, 293 and 357 mm from the front, so there’s no measuring.

Looking at one side wall. All four slide screw holes lie on a single line 38 mm (1½″) above the floor; the blue dims are the distances back from the front edge. Mark the other wall the same way.
Both sides must match exactly — same 38 mm height, same hole positions. If they don’t, the unit will rack and drag.
3

Mount the two slides

  1. Hold the left slide on its marks, flush to the front, dead level.
  2. Drive the supplied #8 × 1/2" (13 mm) screws (slide-mount pack) — front screw first, re-check level, then the rest.
  3. Repeat for the right slide.
Before clipping anything on: measure front and back to confirm both slides are the same height and parallel.
4

Clip on the carriage & cap it

  1. Set the carriage frame on the slides at an angle, then lay it flat.
  2. Push straight back until you hear it click/lock onto both slides.
  3. Snap a Rev-A-Shelf logo cap onto each side (they cover the adjusters — you’ll pop them off in Step 7).
  4. Slide it in and out a few times — it should glide and soft-close on its own.
1 · Set on at an angle, lay flat click! push back 2 · Push until it locks
Clipping on. Set the frame onto the slides at an angle and lower it flat, then push straight back until both sides click and lock.
!If it drags or won’t close, a slide is off-level or not parallel. Fix it now, before the door goes on.
5

Mark & mount the door brackets

First, find your overlay

Overlay = (door height − cabinet opening height) ÷ 2

e.g. 24" (610 mm) door − 23" (584 mm) opening = 1" (26 mm) ÷ 2 = 1/2" (13 mm) overlay. Two of the bracket dimensions below add this number.

What “overlay” means your door cabinet opening overlay overlay door taller than opening
The overhang, split. The door covers the opening and overhangs equally top and bottom — each overhang is the overlay you just calculated.

Lay the door face-down. Mark the bracket holes on the back, punch with the awl, then screw the brackets on.

Door bracket positions — official sheet, Fig. 5

  • The two bracket columns are spaced by the container width: 15-13/32" (391 mm) for your double 35/50 qt unit. (Other units: 12-13/32" / 315 mm single 35/50 qt; 9-13/32" / 239 mm single 30 qt.)
  • Each column sits 9/16" (14 mm) + overlay in from its side edge of the door (a horizontal offset, not from the bottom).
  • Each column has 5 screw holes. The lowest hole is 2" (51 mm) + overlay up from the bottom edge of the door. From there the holes step up 1-1/4" (32 mm), 3-25/32" (96 mm), 1-1/4" (32 mm), 1-1/4" (32 mm).
15-13/32″ · 391 mm BACK OF DOOR BOTTOM OF DOOR FINDING THE OVERLAY Overlay = (door height − opening) ÷ 2 e.g. 24″ door − 23″ opening = 1″ ÷ 2 = ½″ (13 mm) overlay 2″ (51 mm) + overlay 9/16″ (14 mm) + overlay 9/16″ (14 mm) + overlay 1-1/4″ (32 mm) 3-25/32″ (96 mm) 1-1/4″ (32 mm) 1-1/4″ (32 mm) Column spacing = container width 9-13/32″ (239 mm) single 30 qt · 12-13/32″ (315 mm) single 35/50 qt 15-13/32″ (391 mm) double 35/50 qt — your unit
Back of the door. Two bracket columns sit 391 mm apart (the double 50 qt container width), each 14 mm + overlay in from its side edge. Each column has 5 holes: the lowest is 51 mm + overlay up from the bottom edge, then steps 32 / 96 / 32 / 32 mm.

Fasten each bracket with the #6 × 1/2" (13 mm) screws (RV door-mount pack). Each pack has 2 spares — discard any you don’t use.

!Don’t drill through the door. #6 × 1/2" (13 mm) is short on purpose — match your bit depth to the door thickness.
6

Hang the door on the carriage

  1. Line the door brackets up with the locks on the front of the LEGRABOX frame.
  2. Push until you hear a click — same lock-on action as the carriage.
  3. Close it and eyeball the gaps against the neighboring doors and drawers — you’ll fine-tune next.
7

Fine-tune the fit

Pop the logo cover caps off to reach the adjusters. Everything turns with a T20 Torx driver (Fig. 9).

Work around the door until the reveal is even and the front sits flush, then re-test the soft-close and snap the caps back on.

Drop in the bins

Set the divider insert, seat the two waste bins, and add the lid. Done — open it, close it, enjoy the soft-close.

Good to know

Removal, your boring template & add-ons

Taking it back apart

  • Remove the carriage: pull the drawer fully out, find the triggers on the slides, squeeze them, and lift the carriage off once the slides disengage.
  • Remove the door: turn the adjustment screw on both sides of the drawer to release the lock, then lift the door front away from the frame.

The boring template you bought · optional

Würth #150406 = Blum Universal Boring Template ZML.0040.01.

  • You don’t need it here. The unit is assembled and Rev-A-Shelf’s method is just awl + mallet to mark holes.
  • Could still help: punching the slide fixing positions in Step 2 for clean, repeatable holes.
  • Later: if you add Tip-On, the LEGRABOX trigger position differs from Tandembox/Metabox — don’t use the Tandembox/Metabox markings.

Adding Tip-On or SERVO-DRIVE · optional

Both sold separately with their own instructions. SERVO-DRIVE is electric “tap to open” (kit 5LBSD-KIT-1); Tip-On is mechanical push-to-open and retrofits to this unit (kit 5LB-TOKIT-18). For Tip-On, use the LEGRABOX trigger position.
