Careers
The software comes out of the same building as the cabinets, which is most of what makes it different and most of what makes working here unusual.
There are no open roles right now. When one opens it gets posted on this page first. If the work below sounds like yours, the last section says exactly what to send so you are on the list before that happens.
What the work actually is
Somebody here draws a kitchen on Monday, cuts it on Wednesday, and hangs it on Friday. The software exists because that loop kept hitting the same walls, so every feature has a shop-floor reason behind it and gets judged against a real job before it ships.
That cuts both ways, and it is worth knowing which way before you write. A wrong number here is not a rendering bug, it is a sheet of plywood in the skip. The bar on correctness is high, the review is real, and nobody argues about whether a dimension has to be right.
The kinds of people this shop runs out of
Cabinetmakers who write
People who have built the boxes and can also explain them, in guides and in the words inside the product. The rare half is the shop time, not the writing.
Front-end engineers with an eye
Canvas work, drawing tools, and interfaces that stay calm while somebody moves a wall. The people who do this well have usually shipped something they were embarrassed by first.
People who know CNC and panel saws
Nesting, yield, grain direction, edgebanding, and what a cut list has to say before a machine can be trusted with it.
Support people who have run a job
Answering a cabinetmaker at seven in the morning is a different skill from answering a ticket. It helps enormously to have been the one behind.
None of those is a posting. It is what the work here keeps reaching for, written down so you can decide whether it is worth your afternoon.
What to send
Email support@cabdesign.app with Careers in the subject line, and three things in it:
- Something you made. Cabinets, code, a jig, a video, a spreadsheet that saved a shop a day a week. What it is matters less than that you finished it.
- One paragraph on the part of this work you would want. Not a cover letter.
- Where you are and how you like to work. The shop is in Los Angeles and the software work is not tied to a desk in it.
A person reads every one of these. If there is nothing open we say so rather than leaving you waiting, and we keep the note.
If you want to work with us rather than for us
There is a separate route for that. Content creators who teach shop work, hardware and storage vendors whose products these tools already design around, and model makers all have their own section on the partner page.
