Use your faster graphics card for the 3D view
Many laptops have two graphics chips: a built-in one that saves battery, and a faster graphics card. Your computer decides which one the browser gets, and a web page cannot change that. When the 3D view slows down on a built-in chip, here is how to give the browser the faster card.
Applies to the 3D view in the Designer.
See which chip draws the 3D view
Open the 3D view and press the sliders button on the 3D bar. The last line, Drawn by:, names the chip the browser is using, for example "Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620".
Windows
- Open Settings, then System, then Display, then Graphics.
- Pick your browser in the list. If it is not there, add it with Browse.
- Choose High performance, then save.
- Close every window of the browser, then open it again.
Mac
Nothing to do. A Mac picks the right chip for the browser by itself.
Linux
On a laptop with two chips, start the browser on the faster card with PRIME offload. On GNOME, right-click the browser in the app list and choose Launch using Discrete Graphics Card. On KDE Plasma, the same choice is Run using dedicated graphics card in the browser's launcher settings.
